Woah.

I just realized that it's been over a year since I last blogged. I intend to fix that, and soon. It's not like I have any readers, but updates will be coming soon, if only for my own sake.

Typeface Foundries

Veer is an excellent typeface foundry.  I personally love how well it is organized by collection and category.  Usually I have a specific type look in mind, so it is great to be able to quickly view exactly what I want.  Veer has many different styles and variations of type to choose from.  I am especially fond of the Feel Script typeface.  I like script fonts and this one is exceptionally rendered.  The curves lead the eye well through the text in lieu of serifs. Overall, the entire website lends the designer a great sense of ease in the tedious task of looking for typefaces.

I am also a fan of Pampatype.  The Pampatype Typeface Foundry is also very well organized, but with a less commercial feel than Veer.  Pampatype feels warm and inviting from the first click. Pampatype does not have a many typefaces as Veer, but the ones they do have are all equally pleasant.  I can easily imagine using the Pampatype typefaces in many projects in my future.

My final choice of typeface foundry is Virusfonts.  This foundry has a completely different style than the previous two.  It is edgy and raw.  These typefaces are also limited, but look fantastic whether viewed independently or together.  As a collection they fit well together, but by themselves they develop their own personality and potential.  I enjoy the Mancholia typeface most, as it is very expressive and is a unique blend of many different styles.

Print Ads

I'm such a fan of this ad.  Created for Washington apples, I think it's very effective in sending its message.  The physical appearance of the woman is completely overshadowed by the apple, which, I'm sure, is just as the designers intended.

This ad from McDonalds easily shows the impact fast food is having upon younger generations. It leaves a lasting impression.  I will not easily be able to get this image out of my head...

This ad is immensely effective.  Also morbidly funny!

Five Website Designs

www.modcloth.com
This is an online store called ModCloth. I like shopping here because all of the information is very easy to find. Three cheers for no hassle shopping!

www.elfwood.com
This website is called Elfwood, an online fantasy art forum.  I like its eclectic charm.

www.britishmuseum.org
This website from the British Museum is so well organized.

www.nin.com
I love band websites.  This is the official website for Nine Inch Nails.

www.evanescence.com
This is the website for Evanescence, one of my favorite bands.  I love any design that is based on music.  Guess I'm a bit bias.

Symbol designs

Everyone is aware of the gender symbols.  They have long been used and long been understood.

This symbol is known globally as "swimming".  The lack of text and easy-to-understand symbolism makes this clear to anyone.

T.V. commercials

This commercial from Ford just makes me happy. I've always wanted to drive on the edges of buildings.

I've always loved ipod ads, motion or still, they're just so attractive to look at!

This commercial by Sprint is so cool! I love the use of flashlight animation.
